The Market Economy Institute (MEI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) was founded on the base of one of CEMI RAS division. The Institute operation has been started since February 1, 1991. The main directions of the MEI investigations are related to the elaboration of the theory and methodology for the following areas:

• Formation and Evolution of the Russian Market Economy
• Operation and Evalution of the Market Infrastructure in Russian Economy,
  Elaborating the Methods and Mechanisms System for a State Regulation of the Market
• The Economic-Ecological Regulation of the Market
• Modelling the Interoperation and Integration Processes of the World and Domestic Markets,
  Studying the Economic Mechanisms of the Russia Integration into the World-Wide Economy Relationships System.
