The article examines the three key types of Russian economy
competitive advantages. They are rich energy resources, market size (external
and internal) and the high educational level of the labor force. Their
opportunities and limitations for sustainable socio-economic development were
revealed in the context of national specialties and global trends. New
technologies are seen as one of the demands for the sustainability. However, a
systems approach is promoted to implement internal superiority. It is aimed to
join advantages of all kinds and other enabling factors in harmony. In
particular, in order to create modern industrial structures in the Russian East.
