Compensation Companies: Which Way is Russia? // Economics of
contemporary Russia 2009. ¹3

The dynamics of corporate
compensation costs in Russia: does paternalism
still matter? The article is
devoted to the analysis of the post-reform dynamics of employer costs
for
employee compensation and to the changes in corporate benefit policy of
the
Russian companies. The comparative analysis of the Russian and the US statistics of the
structure of employer costs are supported by the
independent qualitative data, as well as the description of
institutional
upheavals in employment regulation and labor relations in Russia after 1992. There
is no adequate economic and
institutional base providing significant social support to employees in
the
Russian companies relevant to the soviet «paternalism» or «corporate
social
responsibility».
Keywords: employer costs, employee
compensations, employee benefits,
industrial relations, employment regulation.
