Golichenko O.G. The Monetary Theory: Basic Ideas, Problems
and Tendencies in Development.
Development of monetary theory, from the works of
classical and neoclassical schools, Cambridge theorists, Wicksell, Keynes,
Hicks, Friedman to those of the modern contributors. Two fundamental properties
of money are considered: to have the immediate and postponed use. These
performances are analyzed in the context of motivation models of economic
agents' behavior at shaping their transactions money demand and demand
for money as an economic asset. The author evaluates the possibility of
integration of the given models within the framework of the assets portfolio
theory. The special attention is given classical dichotomy – to an opportunity
of division monetary and real economy.
