Russian fuel-and energy system is again on the threshold of restructuring, and the coal industry wills actively participate in it. Over the recent six years Russian coal industry has been in the course of radical restructuring. The successes and failures of this process are analyzed. The methodology and general principles of restructuring the capacities of the coal industry as well as economic and social consequences are considered.
